Dee McCullough represented Lesbian Labour and LabourLGB at an LGB Alliance Business Forum event in the Scottish Parliament on 11th February.
The event which hosted an influential audience, including 15+ MSPs from different political groups, shone a spotlight on Scottish business leaders and the unique challenges that face them.
The event included a panel discussion, a presentation on Compelled Conformity and an opportunity to network.
The LGB Alliance Business Forum is a group of senior executives from a range of private sector businesses who are concerned that LGB rights are at risk. Their focus is on assisting organisations to make a positive impact for the LGB people they employ, who in turn are dedicated to making a positive business impact to the company they work for.
Many organisations have caved in to loud and emotive lobby groups for advice in this area and the forum has launched as a counterweight to provide legally sound, practical and business centred advice for organisations. Recent work has included the launch of the ground-breaking report ‘Compelled Conformity’ which highlights the devastating impact that attempts at inclusion can have on organisations and the people who work within them.
Panel members included Kate Barker of LGB Alliance, former Edinburgh MP Joanne Cherry KC, Simon Fanshawe, MD of Diversity by Design and co-founder of Stonewall, academic Robert Laverick, founder of the Leeds Branch of Academics for Academic Freedom, Tess White MSP, Shadow Minister for Equalities and LabourLGB’s Dee McCullough.
LabourLGB and Lesbian Labour continue to ensure that LGB rights are represented at the highest level in UK politics.
