We are same-sex attracted women and our sex and sexual orientation are protected characteristics under the Equality Act 2010. We intend to assert our rights and our views, and to make our voices heard.
We have written to them regularly about the lack of clarity of the word ‘sex’ and as a consequence the threat to sexual orientation. We have told them about the inability of lesbians to meet together safely and the need to change the associated rules. We supported the Government’s commitment to the Cass Report but have kept the pressure on to prevent young people being prescribed puberty blockers and affirmation health care.
We are regulars at the Annual LGB Alliance Conference; it’s a chance to join with other lesbians, gays and bisexuals, listening to interesting participants from a wide range of backgrounds and join in the discussions. We eat together and at the end of the day there is a disco and time to chill for quiet chats and getting to know yous.
Our Banner has been seen on many marches and demonstrations, hand-made by one of our members and carried with pride.
